About & Contact Me

Hi, my name is Sarah. I am:
* happily 30
* mummy to two gorgeous wee boys; a non-verbal 2.5yo & a very verbal 5yo
* lover to and occasional yeller at my workaholic hubby
* mourning the tragic loss of my sweet sister who died 30 November 08
* on a ‘make everything myself’ kick. Bread, yoghurt, peanut butter, quilts, knitting, toys, baking, growing veges, – you name it, I’m BALLSING IT UP having a go

My previous lives were:
* an ex-backpack-around-the-world-er
* then a homebirthing, co-sleeping, non-vaxing, cloth nappy obsessed hippychick
* before my family and I ran away to the countryside in April 07

You what?
Until April 2007 we lived in the city, where we met online, married in person, had two homebirthed babies and started up a business. That grew and grew, which quickly became a mixed blessing as soon our eldest was in daycare and we never got to sleep, or relax, or anything, except work.

So, after five years of hard slog in the city, we packed up and ran away to this tiny wee bach (45m²) we own in the middle of freaking nowhere.  And now Hubby and I both work from our kermit green (that was an accident) shipping container, which my very clever Hubby converted into offices, while our two little boys run in and out breaking our concentration (and anything else breakable in the house.)
So my hairbrained scheme brainchild business supports our whole family.  I am totally awesome.

Stuff I like, or think I would like, or just think about a lot. Or y’know, sometimes: My kids *Swimming *Making Stuff *Morbid Reminiscing about the good old days *Houses *Eco-Friendliness & Self Sufficiency * Reading Chick Lit * Keeping Chickens * Vegetables *The colour Green * Wandering around Cities I haven’t been to before * Overseas Travel * A mixer tap in the bathroom * movies like: *Siones Wedding * Drop Dead Fred * Point Break * Benny & Joon * Life is Beautiful * Chocolat * music like: * Ben Harper * Kokomo * books like: * The Red Tent by Anita Diamant * The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran * Hello Baby by Jenni Overend

Things I don’t like?
*I have a pathalogical fear & hatred of using the telephone
* I can’t eat celery or green beans. They squeak on my teeth. Yeuck.
* Concentrating. I have the concentration span of a hyperactive ant.

Shhhh, it’s a secret ;)

Nah, it’s not a secret at all, but I just try not to create online links from business to blog and blog to business… so ask Kate, she knows ;)

Thanks for visiting!!

This is getting scary….I HATE the telephone. So much so I keep it unplugged most of the time. Only because I can never think of what to say to people, or how to end the conversation, so I never do and just mutter monosylabically (not word?) until they end the conversation…which of course I take as a sign that they are sooo bored talking to me and hate me. That’s why I LOVE the net, email rocks….Ah you’re not actually scared of the actual phone itself are you? (Cause that would make you MUCH weirder than me, which would also rock).
Oh and I just may be a stalker….boo.

Hi I tagged you.. 7 random things about you.. :-) have fun.. i do fear that tagging might be similar to jamming up peoples in boxes with forwarded emails. but it’s the first time i’ve been tagged and now i feel like i’m part of the cool group. when really, i’m probably part of the dorky group.

Thanks for dropping by! I am so with you on the telephone. People don’t get me that I don’t like using it, or hearing it ring. Nice to know I’m not alone.

13. Andrew Killick (Publishing Manager) - April 19, 2008

Hello – I’m not actually Andrew, I’m his wife Anna :) Just wanna sat that I love your blog. Sometimes I feel like we were separated at birth!!! ha ha. I have no kids but my husband is a poet and we met online too and he turned out to be great :) I’m28 and I used to look almost identical to your ‘collarbone’ photo – short dark hair, make-up, everything but due to some (dumb) medication have ended up being a lot bigger (but still beautiful – just like you). I love Anne of Green Gables (I actually AM Anne of Green Gables, I ask people to call me Annie or Anna of Green Gables hee hee). I think about stuff like fluff on jerseys (bain of my existence), getting under the skirting boards with toothpicks even though my house is messy and I just love life to the fullest despite being chronically sick for the last ten years with CFS (am getting better!).

Am going to Uncle Blackbeetle’s Tea and Craft for my birthday today – that’s how I saw your page. I love the names of your beads – and the designs are beautiful.

Anyhow take care and keep writing,

Anna :)
